Anyone interested in running something slow paced, say on monthly basis? Perhaps something more sophisticated focusing on character development, relationships and political powerstruggle between the characters as we already have two action focused fantasygrounds games going on.
Sounds interesting enough. Depends on the setting. Got anything specific in mind?
Gonna pass, probably. Pretty busy with DMing one group and playing in two others through FG. Also our forum RPs don't have that good track record with all of them going into ground in month or two

Haven't thought of a setting yet but I like victorian era aristocrats, maybe cyber or steampunk with them nobles?
True enough apo

but imo the reason has always been lack of commitment from the players part because pace of the game has been too fast for them. Monthly basis would likely fix it.
Cyber punk, steam punk, science fiction... something we haven't really tried yet.
And I'd like to make a suggestion that we just go "fuck stats" this time around. Seriously, they're a bitch to manage without a system to place them in (like in D&D), and are really too arbitrary to keep in this kind of thing.
Indeed, maybe restrict people to non combat characters

A bit overzealous. And very hard to define. What would be the arbitrary limit between a combat character and a non-combat character, anyways?
I'd rather suggest an approach that endorses non-combat characters, but makes combat characters an alternative. An army is better than a weapon in pure power, but they have different applications.
Perhaps restricting to non combat chars might be a bit too much for some and it'd make no sense for an army general for example to have no skills in actual battle.
One thing I'd very much like though is giving characters a place in the plot/world before rp starts so that we could kick start the game from where it's actually interesting rather than having chars start as average joes and climb the very long ladders to kinghood.

I agree very much on both points. Although rather than "receiving" a place in the world, the players could make it for themselves, designing a band/crew/guild/faction/nation before having it approved by the GM, who then melds it into the rest of the world, as created by him/her/them and the rest of the players.
