RE: The world of Taton - Wall of Aarni [OOC thread]
Name: Anselm Odo - The Thief

Appearance:
Anselm is a young boy of Elven descent; as expected of an elf, he has a fair face, pale skin, and bright green eyes. Unlike the elves around him, his family has more rounded ears than average and has grown his brown hair long to hide them, so he could be to welcome in the Elven society.
He has a very lean body type, and is seen as undernourished; being as such, he is unable to equip any type of heavy or medium weight armor, and can hold only the lightest items. He is typically seen equipped with nothing more than his clothes, a dagger, and a his Mothers 'Elven Ring', which are hidden under his Fathers 'Enchanted Cloak'.

Race/species: Elf

Gender: Male

Biography:

Anselm was born and raised in Luches Capital of New Marktown to his Human father, Sothe, and his Elven mother, Llyana.

They had met during one of Hiarii's land stops. During this specific stop, Llyana had become a victim of Sothe, and had gotten a precious ring stolen from her. She had chased him for days, usually without sleep, until the morning of Hiarii's departure. The days of chasing were so tiresome, she passed out and missed the departure. Feeling sympathetic, Sothe took her to his small home inside the city, and let her rest until she woke.
Upon her awakening, she had found herself in a strange home, with the Thief that stole her ring. She lunged at him, but collapsed, still weak from no sleep. As she lay there in the home with the Thief, they had a long conversation, where she learned she had missed the departure of her home, and was now stranded. Still feeling sympathetic, Sothe offered her a place to stay until the next land stop by Hiarii... She agreed.

Twenty years had passed, and Llyana was still in New Marktown, with Sothe, and they had a son. That son was named Anselm.

Anselm is more or less, a Half elf, he was mostly Elven in all matters Physically and Magically, but was Adventurous and reckless like the Humans. He lived in the Upper-Class district of New Marktown, as his mother was quite wealthy. His father was now an addict to Gambling, having given up thieving after his encounter with Llyana years ago.
Anselm wasn't the up-tight kinda guy, he more often than not hung out in the slums where his father had been raised. There is where he, without his family knowing, learned the basics of pickpocketing, and manipulating people. He would often get caught, and handed over to his parents for punishment, which was usually a form of house-arrest, although it was futile as he would spend as long as needed to pick the lock, or break the spell binding him to escape. It's his parents constant punishment and rules that lead him to finally become the Thief he was meant to be.

On his twentieth birthday, he celebrated it by giving himself the ultimate freedom. He ran away from home, and as a way of saying goodbye to his loving parents, he stole their most prized possessions.

Personality:
Anselm isn't the typical Elven youngster, he was born with the want to adventure. He is very easy-going, and slack, never wanted to do more than needed, and would prefer to find the easy way around a situation. He has a very manipulative personality, and along with his Elvish good looks, he can very easily get what he wants from the locals. He has an uncontrollable feeling of freedom, and hates being locked up, he will do whatever it takes to escape and be free.

(He is not evil, he is not good, he could be seen as Chaotic Neutral. He isn't mean, not exactly nice either, he is greedy, manipulative, and likes to take advantage of others, even the gods.)

Follows Tenorus The Timeless:
Anselm doesn't actually worship any of the gods, but he feels like he has some sort of connection with the God, Tonorus, and longs to be one of his chosen few.

(Basically, he doesn't worship any gods, he lives on his own, and for himself... But if Tenorus was to choose him, he would quickly take advantage of the offer.)

Stats -
STR: ( 75 )
INT: ( 150 )
AGI: ( 150 )
END: ( 50 ) +25
DEX: ( 150 )
LUCK: ( 0 ) + 100
Total ( 575 ) + 700

Overall:
[Stats + 125]
[Skills + 550]
[Items + 25]

Skills:

(Passive)
Identification - Passed down from his Father's Thieving, and his Mother's magical practices, he is able to identify valuable objects from trash, be it plants or enchanted artifacts.
[100 Points] [ Rank: D ]

(Give Anselm a plant, and he'll tell you what it's good for, give him a sword, he'll tell you how much it's worth, give him something enchanted, and he'll tell you what it does.)

Stat based skills -

(Depending on DEX)
Trapping - Anselm has the ability to make small traps and crafts such as Smoke Bombs, Caltrops, Razor wire, and other small non-lethal traps.
[50 points] [ Rank: F ]

(This skill allows Anselm to both create and use traps and items to incapitate his foes. This isn't limited to crafted traps, he can use every day items to create a possibly lethal weapon.)

(Passive)
Pick pocketing - Anselm's ability to steal from a person unknowingly without conflict, he is a Thief not a Murderer.
[50 points] [ Rank: E ]

(Let's Anselm steal Gold, items, or other goods from an enemy without them knowing. As of right now he can take money and other light objects with ease. If he wants to take something that has more weight, his LUCK and DEX will both come into play.)

(Passive)
Lock Picking - Physical - Anselm's ability to open doors and treasure chests.
[50 points] [ Rank: E ]

(Icludes all physical locks, such as doors, chests, and pad locks. When lockpicking, his INT, LUCK, and DEX will determine if it is a success or not. He can currently open most average doors, chests, pad locks, and the occasional government issued lock.)

(Passive)
Stealth - In order to be a thief, one can not be seen.
[25 points] [ Rank: E ]

(This is not invisibility, it's his ability to stay hidden. Linked with his Sacntuary. As of now Sanctuary takes one to three seconds to take the image of its surroundings. He can move slowly and still keep the illusion, but go an faster than that, and the thread will try to take on too many colors at once. LUCK and DEX apply here.)

(Depending on AGI)

(Passive)
Mirage - Anselm can move fast enough to cause a slight bend in the light around him, leaving a after-image to confuse foes.
[100 points] [ Rank: F ]

(As of right now, the after images are very blurry, and last for a fraction of a second, it wont confuse someone with a decent amount of INT. These images fade out when struck, have no physical attack, and cannot move. Anselm must have more INT and AGI to pull off a successful mirage.)

(Depending on INT)

(Passive / Active) *This skill is always active, you never know if you are looking at the real Anselm or not.*
Glamour - With his natural affinity for magic, he has learned how to make slight alterations in his physical appearance.
[100 points] [ Rank: F ]

( This skill alters Anselms very DNA, allowing him to change parts of his body at will. Currently he isn't skilled enough for major changes, but he can alter his facial structure or change his voice. INT plays a huge role in this skill.)

(Passive)
Lock Picking - Magical - Anselm's ability to break magical binding spells.
[50 points] [ Rank: E ]

(Includes magical locks, and spells used on items to conceal their power, or prevents them from being used. He opens these locks, or breaks these spells not with picks, but with straight will power. As expected his INT will come into play here.)

Items:

Clothes:

-Average cloth clothes (Clothes of a normal young man, nothing special, includes: Pants (Tan), Shirt (White), and a Vest ( Brown).
-Light cloth slippers (Light slippers with a rough padded bottom, for both traction and stealth)

Head Gear:
-Small mask (Covers only his mouth, nose, and chin. Is dark like his cloak, but isn't magical; only wears it while thieving.)

Weapons:
-Small dagger (Concealable - Small, hardly considered a weapon, used to make very precise cuts, be it at vital points or a coin purse.)

Magical Gear:
-Sanctuary [+25] (A grey-black hooded cloak, was once Anselm's father's, but is now his. When held near a surface, it's mana-imbued threads will change color to match the area around it; this certain cloth seems to be linked with the users very own life force (Spirit), and will grow and develop as they do. This is not to be confused with invisibility, because it's not. It is more like camouflage, saying that while stationary he will blend in very well, but if moving while using it, he will be easier to spot. It's linked with his stealth skill.)

Unknown gear:
-An Elven ring (Unknown use - If it it magical, a powerful spell must have been used to hide it's true power, because as of now the role of this ring is unknown, making it only useful for show.)

Crafting:
-Basic tools for manufacturing traps and poisons (Includes a small wood whittling knife, some alchemy tools, and some small casts to form sharp metal objects.)

Consumables:
-Some pre-made traps
-One weak potion [Poison-Stun] (Can be set on gear to produce some nasty effects)

Gold:
-Five gold pieces.

My Character thus far.

RE: The world of Taton - Wall of Aarni [OOC thread]
[Approved]

Name: Orelia Verna

Appearance: Orelia is rather short for an elven female, being about as tall as the average female human.
All in all, she has slender frame, moving around graciously as ost of her kind do.
She has blue eyes which gleam with a hint of curiosity and silky, almost golden blonde hair which she wears loose, but it's tended to well.
Her hands are delicate and soft, revealing that she hasn't done too much work in her short life yet, being barely an adult, but some traces of her recent training with stave like weapons can be seen.

She wears a leather vest and accompanying pants, both are a bit greyish in hue and blend in better with the mountainous regions than with forests, though they don't perform bad there either.

Recently, she has been seen carrying around a bladed weapon on a 5 ft. pole, which she calls a naginata.

Race/species:Elf.

Gender: Female.

Age: 25, looks 18. I'll assume this is how elves work, become adults almost as fast as humans, slow down a lot from there on out?

Biography: Orelia was brought up on the main land, in a sea-side city which lives and prospers on the trade with Aarni by ship.
Her parents were wealthy elves who also conducted trade in the city.

Her mother had a very troubling labour at her birth, and knows it'll be many years before she'll be able to get pregnant again, which caused her parents to be overly protective of her, making her lead a rather sheltered lfie.

Orelia was not happy with the way her parents tried to "lead her life for her" and became increasingly restless.
Her parents thought she just needed the attention of a strong man, and set up a date for her with a strapping elven lad.

Ornelia, however, completely took this the wrong way, fearing this'd eventually lead to them even arranging her marriages.
She gather'd up all the money she had saved up during her life, and snuck aboard a ship in the harbour, hoping to live a more exciting live in Aarni.

To her dismay, though, she was discovered, and when they went ashore in the Colonies of Luches, she was handed over to the authorities.
She managed to escape her captors before seeing any real officials, fleeing the colonies as fast as she could.

She eventually happened upon a Daiur temple some distance outside of the colonies and they took her in, giving her a place to sleep.
Since then, she's used up most of her money on food and her naginata, leaving her with little left.

She's spend her days training with the weapon, acquiring some level of skill with it at least.
Some passing adventurers have been helpful in this regard, giving her tips and helping her along the way, igniting the spirit of the adventurer within her, she's now eager to go out there and explore this continent.

Plus, she -really- needs some cash!

Personality: Orelia is a captive bird recently set free, and thus couldn't be happier!
If she had any money to go to any parties, she'd certainly be the sunshine in the room. She tends to look at even the most negative things optimistically since she arrived on the island, claiming the worst possible life for her is one she already left behind.

She is very honest, almost painfully so at times since she never had much social contact to figure out you just don't say some things, which has gotten her in trouble from time to time.
This isn't to say she never lies, but she feels really bad about it when she does, and is generally no good at it.

She looks at everything around her in the world with a sense of wonder, as if it's all new to her and in many ways it is.
She's very eager to go out and explore the world, and completely oblivious to the danger involved, believing her training with the Naginata is all she needs to dispatch the trouble along the way.

She absolutely can not stand injustice, and she can get very angry at even the slightest notion that someone might be, possible, if you look at it from this way, treating her unfairly.
She loves to boast, and is very keen on hearing other people doing it as well. There's no telling what'd happen if you let her and someone else like her describe a recently won fight, it's quite possible nobody who was there would understand they're talking about that very same fight!

From all this you can see she's a bit naïve as well.

It's true that she's not easily frightened, but often she puts up a brave face to impress others as well, it remains to be seen how she'd cope with immanent death.

She does not currently believe in any gods, simply because she's never had existential thoughts in her life yet.
Instead, she prefers to rely on her own strength.

She'll never admit it to anyone, but lately she's been feeling lonely as she has no friends around, which gives a second explanation to why she's been hearing out every adventurer passing by: she simply needs someone to talk to and a bit of attention.
She hasn't quite understood yet that not everything that comes out of her mouth is a valuable pearl of wisdom, and she's easily upset by people ignoring her.

Stats
STR: 75
INT: 150
AGI: 150
END: 100(50 points spend)
DEX: 150

LUCK:50(50 points spend)

Skills:

Novice Pole-weapon fighter[100 skill]:

Through training, Orelia has achieved an average level of skill in fighting with pole-weapons, and more specifically her naginata.
She's grasped the basic principles of striking, parrying and creating space for herself on the battlefield by whirling around, as well as putting the weapon's reach to good use.
Although she's got some way to go, with enough training she hopes to perfect the weapon, dancing around the battlefield as a whirlwind of death.
Right now it's more like a gust of moderate inconvenience though!

Items: Her Naginata, a suit of leather armour, some clothes and a little food/water.

RE: The world of Taton - Wall of Aarni [OOC thread]
Name - Samuel (Wengord)

Sex/Gender - Male

Sexual Preference - Heterosexual

Age/birth date - 18

Species/Race - Human

Eyes - Blue eyes

Hair - Shoulder Length Golden Blond hair. Usually tied into a tight ponytail by a black ribbon.

Skin - Normal White skin of average Tan...-ness.

Body Type - Slender and healthy. Not as strong as most soldiers, but much more agile than them.

Voice - His tone of voice is in a bit to the right of the middle of the "High<---->Deep" spectrum.

Dominant Hand - Right

Weight/Height - 5'8'', 152 lbs / 172 cm, 69 kg

Personality - Samuel is kind, generous and obedient, he is the perfect servant or knight. Unfortunately for him, however, he is not oblivious and does not lack empathy. Although perfectly loyal and submissive, he holds many ideas and is good-hearted to the core. He despises evil and dreams of upholding the cause of justice and righteousness. Even more than that, however, he loves his sister (Of whom he is the servant, not to say slave) and desires to return to a more innocent relationship with her, a relationship without all of the administrative and ruler business. A relationship without corrupt bureaucrats trying to exploit his sister and without her sister indulging in all of her desires, at the detriment of her subjects.

This conflict between his love and devotion to his sister and being forced to commit increasingly evil acts to satiate her desire for material comfort or to satisfy a minister that she decided to listen to, has been tormenting him ever since she was made a princess and he a servant and has been the cause of many emotional and moral distress. The only comfort he has ever had in many years is the time he spent alone with his sister, away from all the bureaucracy and corruption. Unfortunately, it also strengthened his devotion and love and turned it into a dependancy.

Loves - Sophia, Emotional Comfort, Moral Comfort, Innocence

Hates - Evil, Royalty, Nobility, Corruption, Selfishness

Alignment - Lawful Good

Flaw - He is entirely devoted to his sister. As much as he disapproves of her behavior and actions, he cannot bring himself to harm or betray her. That often, if not constantly, creates inner dilemas as he is often forced to act against what he judges to be right. When confronted about his evil actions, he is likely to simply avoid them, or to fall silent and thoroughfuly ashamed.

Other - Twin brother of Sophia Wengord, the ruling lady of the town of Ystar, daughter of Yvan Wengord, lord Alanster, the ruler of the Masquisdom of Elennard.

Archetype - Knightly Servant

Class - Knight

Weapon and Armor - Longswords, Steel Breastplates, Large Steel Shields and Leather shirts, pants, boots and gloves. He has access to pretty much any weapon or armor issued to soldiers accross the colonies, but must ask his sister first.

Items - A portrait of his sister and he when they were kids, in a locket.

Magic Alignment - He has a little magical potential, but it has never been developped and will likely never be.

Clothing - He has two outfits he wear often. His servant clothes consist of a White silken tunic, a black lined yellow silken overshirt, white pants and shin high black boots. His battles clothes can vary, but he usually wear a steel breastplate, a tabard with the heraldry of his sister on it, a leather tunic under the breastplate leather gloves, leather pants and shin high leather boots.

Bio - Samuel and his twin sister, Sophia were born from the Marquis of Elennard, a a fief regrouping three small towns and a large port town on the edge of the Tailbone of Aarni. As kids, they were stereotypical twins. They liked the same foods, games, weather and more. They lived in abondance and innocence until they reached the age of six. Their father, needing trusted servants to look after the towns he ruled over decided to have his daughter (whom he judged easier to control and manipulate for being a woman) educated in the arts of rulership. As for his son, he wanted to break him and turn himinto an obedient servant who could never take the power from his hands. He asked his most trusted (in his eyes) ministers to take care of the education of his children and sent Samuel, Sophia, their mother (to watch over them) and the ministers to the more distant town of Ystar while he tended to the rest of his lands.

For the time, the ministers did their jobs, but it did not take long for them to start plotting, against each other and the marquisdom. They wanted to gain the trust and favor of the child-princess, so that when the king died, they could place her on the throne and manipulate her to their own ends. When the children were nine, they had their mother subtly disposed of and now had complete control over them. They raised Sophia to be a puppet ruler and tried to get rid of her brother, but following their attemps to separate the twins, Sophia requested that he be made her personal servant and he became untouchable.

Samuel spent his time either training in the art of battle and leadership, or tending to his sister's every desire. Over the years, he would do many actions in the name of his sister and her ministers which he would regret. He would collect unberably high taxes to fill the ever emptying coffers, travel to neighborhind cities to buy expensive clothes, decorations and jewelry, while the peasants were starving, he would be forced to take away the last bits of food of villagers so the ministers, his sister and himself could eat as much as they wanted. He would put down "rebels" and "traitors" through the force of arm and many more.

Constantly tormented by his actions. He only found comfort when spending time alone with his sister, away from ministers and angry mobs, away from responsabilities and away from good and evil. Alone morals, just the two of them and innocence.

STR: 100
INT: 175
AGI: 180
END: 125
DEX: 150
LUCK: 20

Skills :
Swordsplay : 150
Over the years, Samuel has learned how to strike precisely, efficiently and quickly, as well as parrying, deflect and counter attack with his longsword using one or two hands, he is far from a master swordsman, but anyone underestimating his ability in battle would not last long against him.
Shield Use : 150
Samuel can use his shield to block attacks efficently, like any other soldier, but he has also mastered the use of his shield to deflect blows or stagger opponents using shield bashes.
Cooking : 150
He can cook sweets and other foods better than the average cook. His specialty is brioche. He is his sister's personal cook when he is not busy with another of her errands.

RE: The world of Taton - Wall of Aarni [OOC thread]
Reading the character sheets is the best, most exciting part of the updates so far imo ^^

Oh, and in the info thread it says something about controlling NPC? So, we're allowed to control NPCs under some circumstances?
Can we ask questions to the npc about info our chars don't know, and answer our own chars ourselves with the NPC we control?

What if we control an NPC, but aren't really sure if they know the answer or what the answer is? Can you then ask a question and ask the DM to answer through your npc?
