Who would win?
Simple discussion thread while we wait, in order not to clutter up the other one too much.
Sometimes, me and my friends used to do an "arena game" with characters we'd stop using soon, or even just make new chars, just to see who'd perform best in combat against each other. The results were sometimes surprising, as the one winning the arena wasn't always the one doing best in the actual game as well. So, the simple question: given all current characters for the game, who would win a tournament style arena knock-out match? If you want, you can list all chars and assess their chances at winning the tournament individually. Also, if there was a big FFA brawl, who would win that? For the purpose of the tournament, imagine the arena was a mix between open spaces, forests, mountainous regions, etc... so something for everyone. |

RE: Who would win?
Of all current chars Verrets has best skills. If the fight was in a town or anywhere near other living beings I think his would have the highest chance of winning.
Edit. If we count in the NPCes then....

Verret has a good chance, but there's no reason someone like TGC couldn't beat him. He has a shield and a sword, something I've yet got to see a Cougar or Wrestling dwarf overcome with ease. The only thing he has on TGC is shifting shape at unexpected times, but in this case TGC would just have to bunker down. Also, we're probably forgetting Apo now because his character is slow. However, since the last update Apo's char can also take more punishment with less effect on him. So, imagine the cougar jumping onto Apo's char and biting down. Apo'd just ignore it and insta-kill him with his 300 strength axe murdering. The Dwarf wrestler would also have his hands full. Aside from that, only the birds are left but they're not too damaging for a huge tree like man, and he can't really use the big ones yet. No matter how fast the birds can fly, they can't change direction just like that, so all Canopy has to do is swing the axe at the right time once and he wins. Even someone's who's slow can pull that off by anticipating. I think Apo would win against most opponents, except maybe TGC, provided his shield can take the 300 strength axe hit for long enough to get a few counter attacks in. I do think Canopy is the one Orelia has the best chance of beating, but as she doesn't really have any perks over TGC, and lacks a shield, it'd be the same thing as with verret, only easier: one good hit, you're out! RE: Who would win?
You've got a point but also forgot Verrets other ability. The instant regeneration. While he could not take down Apo because of his insane END he could very well turn into an eagle and make quick hit&run attacks on normal humans. Even if they hit him he could just regenerate, though in the long run it'd exhaust him. If you have no idea where an eagle is coming from it can do rather serious damage.

I do thing Verret makes the best ambusher/scout though. Except perhaps in cities, where Replacement can bled in better. And to just look at some other stuff, the one most likely to defeat a band of weak, but numerous NPC. I think it'd be Grumph, if he can get that first fart plague off, he can incapacitate them all and take his time just killing them one by one while they're down. Apo would be too slow, and after enduring it for a while probably go down. TGC actually has the best chances in a straight up fight because of his superior equipment. There's a good point to be made about Verret for this one too, if he can sow confusion in the ranks. The question is if he can keep that up before being exhausted. Replacement's char would also do well in a dark room or such I think, since the slight "image" he leaves behind as well as the changing appearance could create a real mess of confusion there. The only way to win with Orelia would be if they're all using swords and they're on the other end of a narrow hallway which is just broad enough for her to swing ![]() I'm an avid power-player in normal D&D(since I find a system with rigid rules like this just -begs- to be exploited) and I think verret currently takes the "clever use of game mechanics" prize. He got extra skill points by draining his physical stats to zero, but if you look at the ability he bought with that you see he just invests it in changeable physical stats(and changeable abilities!) Pure gold ^^ |

RE: Who would win?
My guy would lose. XD His skills are regular Sword and Shield skills and COOKING FFS.
![]() [Warning : TGC may contain traces of Llamas, Clowns and Shenanigans. His power level has been estimated to be over nine thousand and it is said that he is both madness and Sparta. The viewers' shrinks have been advised.] |

RE: Who would win?
Don't forget about Anselm! He could be a great urban fighter, setting up traps, and doing hit and run attacks.
Id say he is a great guerilla fighter!

RE: Who would win?
I think Grumph would win an all-out brawl as things currently stand. His fart spell would knock us all out, and then he could make sure we didn't ever wake up
![]() Shapeling (my char) would be pretty much fucked if it didn't get the jump on its opponent, as fighting armed and armored humanoids head-on as a mundane beast really doesn't seem too pleasant. Both apo's and TGC's chars seems like more or less experienced warriors, so sneaking up on them would be hard. I'd probably try to find a pretty woman and use her form to lure them in (either through seduction, or failing that just the good ol' maiden in distress). If they didn't fall for the bait, I might attempt to use a child form, or just perch myself on a branch above them as a crow and try to pounce them as a cougar. That would be more effective against apo (assuming I'd find him ) than TGC, I think, as axes do much worse upward stabs than swords.Unahim's, Grumph's and Replacement's chars seem less experienced in combat, and thus less alert, but the elven chars would still notice me coming if I tried to sneak up on them, so I'd probably still go for a small innocent-looking critter or small innocent-looking humanoid ![]() To take down Grumph I would attempt to blind him with a fly-by before charging him as a cougar. But yeah, the above tactics of mine would be long shots at best. Shapeling just isn't that powerful yet. This post is a work of fiction.
